Bollywood veteran Shabana Azmi recently shared heartfelt words of admiration for actress and filmmaker Tannishtha Chatterjee, who is all ready to take her first directorial film ‘Full Plate’ to the prestigious Busan International Film Festival.

What makes this achievement even more remarkable is that Tannishtha completed the project while going through cancer treatment.

Calling her “Tiger Tan,” Shabana praised her strength and spirit, saying she was like a “Rock of Gibraltar” as she heads to Busan with her film.

‘Full Plate’ stars Kirti Kulhari in the lead role. The film also features Sharib Hashmi, Monica Dogra and Indraneil Sengupta. It will have its world premiere at the Busan International Film Festival 2025, one of Asia’s most celebrated movie events.

On August 26, Tannishtha herself had shared the news on Instagram with an emotional post. She revealed the poster of the film, which showed actress Kirti Kulhari wearing a burqa.

In her note, she expressed gratitude for all the love and good wishes she received after the announcement.

She also shared how difficult the journey had been. Tannishtha said she was diagnosed with cancer earlier this year, right in the middle of the post-production work.

“Sometimes the world feels full of negativity,” she wrote, “but the kindness and love I’ve received reminded me that humanity still exists.” She went on to thank her team for standing by her during such a tough time.

Tannishtha admitted that making independent films is always a struggle, but this one tested everyone involved to the limit. She thanked her cast of Kirti, Sharib, Monica and Indraneil, along with her producers Ashutosh, Anup, Mohan and Ketki.

The actress-director, who has earlier impressed audiences with her performances in ‘Parched’ and ‘Angry Indian Goddesses’, revealed just last month that she is battling stage 4 oligo metastatic cancer.
